5 Things You Didn't Know About Me Until This Post

We've been TAGGED!!! Yikes! Alexander Becker over at WOW tagged us in a blogosphere game known as "5 Things You Didn't Know About Me."

I'm not superstitious, but just in case there is any chance of bad luck or karma occurring from not participating, I will gladly oblige.

Not sure if the Bradmeister will join in on the fun, but until he does, I'll be standing several feet behind him whenever we get together, just in case a bolt of lighting strikes him or an Acme piano falls on top of him.
Consider yourself tagged, buddy!

So, five things that you didn't know about me (Randy) until this post:
.

1. I had very long hair. My early to mid teens were spent indulging in the thrashy heavy metal music scene. I grew my hair down to my butt. I kept it real clean and pretty, though.

2. My mom permed my hair. Mom was very enthusiastic about me having long hair. I think it's because she always wanted a daughter. So one summer I let her perm my hair under the assumption that it would just result in mildly wavy locks of hair. Well, it didn't work out as planned. Imagine a 5'10", 80 lb., no muscle tone, no butt, facially hairless and pale Asian boy with skin-tight jeans, earrings, and Jheri curls. Not pretty (unless you're into that sort of thing).

3. I used to shave my head. Yeah, I went from one extreme to another. Hey, it's hot here in the Sunshine State!

4. I was kicked off both the football and wrestling teams for non-compliance. During my first few months in a new high school, I managed to piss off the right people at the right times and get kicked off the football team half way through the season, and the wrestling team, also half way through the season. The football incident involved a Burger King hat, a threatened lawsuit, and a very angry ex-rugby player. The wrestling team incident was just a matter of miscommunication. Typical rebellious teenaged behavioral stuff.

5. I used to weigh 206 lbs. That doesn't sound like a lot, but trust me it showed...and in all the wrong places. I chose to lose the weight because I started having trouble breathing. Sitting still was just as hard for me as walking down my driveway to get the mail. So I cut back on the portions I ate (e.g., 2-3 slices of NY style pizza instead of a whole 20" extra-large in one sitting) and started to jog (about one mile 2-3 times a week). Not huge changes, but continuous small ones over time. I'm now down to a trim 180 lbs., and have gone down two pant sizes. It took two years, but the changes have stuck.

So there, no more private stuff...for now. It was actually fun to go down memory lane on this blog article. Hope this info doesn't tarnish my credibility.

Since the MRG is still pretty new, we don't really know that many other bloggers well enough to tag. But let's try tagging Victor Fam, Bryan C. Fleming, Kim at Emergiblog and Jean at GenX Millionaire.

    Hi there,

Nice post, especially the one about being kicked off both your teams

My 5 things are not so funny, but are hopefully informational enough:

    Hey Gleb!
Definitely very interesting how you got your name! For some reason I was thinking it was an Irish name, but glad to finally know the real origin. Perhaps we can start calling you St. Gleb?!?

By the way, I was actually going to tag you, but someone beat me to it!

    Happy Holidays,

Gleb sounds very much like Glen, so yes people don't take it as quite Russian until I explain.

As for St. Gleb - I don't think I'll ever be good enough for it

One way or another we learned new things about each other, and that was the whole idea of this tag game.

    Happy holidays to you too!
